The Sound of Sasquatch?

Posted by: Nick Redfern on August 24th, 2012

Yep, those famous, strange, eerie and appropriately monstrous recordings believed by many to be Bigfoot are under the microscope again, in a good, solid round-up on what the big hairy thing may actually sound like.

And here’s the link to the article.

  1. Joe Wilson via Facebook responds:

This guy’s got some of the best recordings of Bigfoot ever recorded, which have been studied and considered to be legitimate, yet he then suggests that, regarding what Bigfoot is, “my theory at this time is that they are a remnant of a demigod – celestial intervention; perhaps part great ape (orangutan?). The sentiency comes from the celestial intervention. They are definitely ‘physical’ but may also have an attribute that we don’t fully understand –nor is it answerable by classical science. Perhaps we also have this attribute, but were disconnected from it at one time, i.e., ‘Garden of Eden’.” He just completely undermines his own credibility by saying something as far-out as that. Cryptozoology struggles for legitimacy enough as it is without people giving daft quotes like that- if this gets mainstream attention it’ll just be like “check out this lunatic lol”.

  2. PLMerite responds:

Went to the site (which wouldn’t let me back-button out of it) and listened to some of the recordings. They sounded very good, just like they were recorded up close with a professional setup, which is a clue.

  3. David-Australia responds:

Several of those sounds appear to a bit too “technically perfect ” to me, like the microphone was very close and recorded in a studio..

  4. Fhqwhgads responds:

    Hello Bigfoot, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
    Because a Yeti softly creeping
Left its tracks while I was sleeping
And the footprints that were planted in the snow
    Remain below
    Amid the sound of Sasquatch.

  5. shownuff responds:

I remember hearing these recordings a while ago. I never knew that these recordings were longer. I found the retired Military guy on Utube. He breaks it all down. Pretty cool stuff. Thank you for the Post…

So *maybe* Cryptozoology should stop trying so damn hard for that coveted legitimacy?

If the price for legitimacy is dismissing ‘inconvenient’ elements in the mystery behind these creatures, then what’s the point of attaining legitimacy, anyway?

I’m not trying to defend this guy. I barely know anything about him. But it’s not like respected mainstream scientists don’t also hold very unorthodox beliefs themselves. For example, Nobel laureate Kary Mullis doesn’t believe HIV is the cause of AIDS, and Francis Crick proposed direct Panspermia —meaning advanced aliens— causing the origin of life on this planet —I wonder what he would have thought of Prometheus? 😉

But perhaps the difference between Mullis & Crick, and the Bigfoot sounds guy, is that the former earned their right to hold unorthodox beliefs, due to the enormous contributions they gave to our knowledge.
