Dinner with Peter Byrne

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on April 11th, 2006

After the presentations wrapped up at the museum Saturday night, members of the TBRC, along with Kathy & Bob Strain and Peter Byrne, hung around until the museum closed at 6 PM. Some went back through the exhibit, taking photographs and viewing the exhibit as it was a lot less crowded than earlier in the day.

We formed a circle of chairs to talk to Peter. We talked to him about our research and his thoughts and advice on what we are doing.

At closing time, we headed off to dinner, We had reservations at 7 for a restaurant that was away from the downtown area and the Riverwalk. We had an appreciation plaque made for Peter and presented it to him prior to dinner.

Everyone enjoyed hearing of Peter’s tales of adventure, from his days of guiding safaris, to the stories from the Himalayan and PNW Expeditions, his Bigfoot research to hearing about the lodge he is building in Nepal.

After dinner, a group of us gathered in the lobby at the hotel as the discussions continued into the wee hours…

  2. One Eyed Cat responds:

I have been wondering lately if Mr Byrne were still with us. Glad to know he is. I saw him on TV discussing BF years ago.

  3. Doug responds:

Good post, Craig. I am glad Peter is still with us. I am sure he was a walking encyclopedia of sasquatch and Yeti info. One of those “bigger than life” sort of guys. Glad you enjoyed the exhibit and Mr. Byrne. Your posts were quite fun and informative.

  4. fuzzy responds:

Any chance that meeting was videoed or recorded?

Those impromptu conversations are sometimes worth their weight in gold, with offhand recollections and other personal information tidbits!

  5. DL42 responds:

Building a lodge in Nepal? Probably not a good idea right about now.

  6. Alton Higgins responds:

Here’s a link regarding the lodge.

  7. Sergio responds:

Well, considering the success recently of scientists finding quite a few new species in the Himalayas, including primates, I think it’s a splendid idea.

  8. Kathy Strain responds:

We got home to California safely! I just wanted to say that the museum exhibit and talks were just outstanding and we had an EXCELLENT time! Peter is one of the most interesting gentlemen I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. Thank you to the UTSA and the TBRC!
