Hackney Horror Deja Vu
Posted by: Nick Redfern on May 27th, 2012
Well, the entertaining saga of the Hackney Horror, out of place bear, phantom black hound, or whatever else it might be, continues to rumble on at a steady pace. The most recent theory is that it’s Willow, the pet Newfoundland dog of Paul and Nicole Winter-Hart – the former being the drummer for Brit band Kula Shaker.
That may well indeed be the case, but I’m getting a distinct case of deja vu, since a Newfoundland was also suggested as being the culprit in yet another event of mystery animal proportions.
Also from England, it occurred back in 2007 when Troy – then a two year old Newfoundland – was suspected of provoking (innocently, of course!) reports of a “Beast of Dartmoor” roaming the wilds of Devonshire.
Here’s a link to the latter story…
And, in my next post – which will appear here at Cryptomundo shortly – you’ll see that there really does appear to be a genuine Newfoundland tie-in with mystery animals that dates back centuries…

Poor Newfies, getting blamed for all sorts of things just because they like to run and pounce and protect ‘their’ homes and people. I have a friend with a Newfoundland, the dog owns her not the other way around, truthfully, the dog walks her too. She’s only 5’2″ and MIGHT go 110 if she’s lucky, she could probably saddle and ride that beast. He’s a big baby, but his bark is very, very scary.
I can only imagine what someone might think if they saw a dog of that size roaming around without an owner. Bear is the first thing that comes to mind, monster would be next on the list.
