Just Enough Time to Miss Bigfoot

About Stop the Texts, Stop the Wrecks TV Commercial, ‘Just Enough Time’
According to Stop the Texts, Stop the Wrecks, the average text message takes the driver’s eyes off the road for five seconds. Five seconds is just long enough for someone to miss something important … like a Bigfoot hunter missing the cryptozoological beast as it crosses the road in front of him.

Well at least we have a legitimate reason why there are no more pics or even good pics of Bigfoot despite all the millions of cell phones loose in the world…
@springheeledjack: I don’t know how quick you are with your cellphone when you are walking in the woods and your phone is probably in your pocket, but I know that just to step outside my front door to take a photo of a magnificent sunrise or sunset, it takes me a few seconds to select the camera option (cuz, generally I don’t walk around my phone automatically in camera mode), steady my camera to get the object in focus before clicking the button. We’ve heard countless stories from eyewitnesses who mentioned how fast Bigfoot moved when they spotted him/her; obviously there is a trade off in most cases. Either you snap the pic as quickly as you can, because Bigfoot is hauling ass and then your result is a fuzzy, blobsquatch, or you are trying to steady your hand (because it’s shaking so bad hell, you’re looking at a Bigfoot, for God’s sake) and *poof* he is gone before you even blinked. Unless the Bigfoot doesn’t even see you and is taking his time, lolling around, the chances of getting a close up shot (unless you spot him well in advance and have a freaking high powered lens) is pretty extraordinary. I’m sure it may happen some day, but until then, we shouldn’t castigate every eyewitness for not being able to be superman or superwoman and shoot a clear, indisputable photo. JMHO.
I share springheeledjack’s cynicism.
It is not merely a question of the hundreds of millions of smart phones with advanced photo capabilities; it is the concerted efforts to find this cryptid that time and time again have come up empty. There are thousands of people out there with their cameras active, either alone or in “expeditions,” that find nothing.
It is grasshopper a numbers game. There are just too many potentials for an incident in which even a bad picture is taken. For that not to happen more often is hard to believe. For it to happen LESS often–which is our present state of affairs is concerning. There have always been rationalizations about why there are no “good” photo and video evidence, but again with the proliferation smart phones with excellent cameras, there simply should be more not less evidence.
There hasn’t been a decent a blobsquatch on this website to talk about in months, maybe years. (The Russian footage stunk and was likely old.) The last might have been that eagle nest camera footage. How long ago was that? As further example, the BFRO went the past three months without a new sighting.
Having posted to this website for well over a decade, it appears that the Bigfoot “fad” may have come and gone.
Grasshopper–yes I’m poking fun, but I’m with you. My phone is always in a pocket…or if I’m driving it’s on a console. If I saw Bigfoot while driving I’d either wreck my truck trying to get the camera, unlock it and get to video mode, or like a lot of people–be so stunned I’d forget about the camera altogether.
However, having said that, with all the millions of camera phones out there, we’re doing absolutely no better than we did before phones with cameras when it comes to the Big Guy.
Mandors–it frustrates me to no end that we can’t seem to get decent footage…or for the most part any footage. I’m not giving up on him. There are still hundreds of reports coming in each year and some people have some really, what I consider, legitimate encounters.
I keep arguing this, but I still think part of the problem is that humanity as a whole just assumes we are the biggest and bestest on the planet and if something can evade and avoid us, then it can’t possibly exist. I tend toward the theory we’re not quite as cool and as good as we think we are even though we’ve spread to most every environment and there are still some things out there adapted to their environments who are just better at hiding on their home turf than we are at spotting them.
Incidentally I did buy a dash cam for forages I make through Illinois and Indiana and Kentucky–just in case–so far nothing, but I’ve got it going when I drive through known Bigfoot areas. A friend and I have been talking about cams and we’re both of the mind that the trailcams are pretty useless. They all emit an infrared beam and after the dismal number of pics actually getting something even Bigfoot like, it’s a safe bet Bigfoot can see in infrared and avoid them altogether.

It’s more the problem that when no one had a phone, travel was impossible for most, and forensic science did not yet exist, Bigfoot was all over the place, being captured or killed by hunters and vigilantes from Florida to Washington State, sometimes ending up in travelling circuses — or so we are urged to believe by those who produce such accounts as “evidence”. Apparently just when we were developing the Polaroid Land Camera, though, Bigfoot was developing ESP and hypnosis, and when we developed the cell phone, he developed the ability to open portals to other dimensions. Either that’s VERY convenient timing on his part, or an increasingly desperate attempt to explain away the absence of indisputable evidence. I wonder which William of Ockham would find more plausible?
Oh well. How long until we hear that three-year-old Casey Hathaway’s story about “hanging out with a bear” while he was missing for two days in North Carolina is really solid evidence for Bigfoot? I expected Cryptomundo to be all over that.
springheeledjack:
You should look at the BFRO Illinois data. Years ago, I was compiling siting dates and locations just on a whim, and I thought I was starting to see patterns–May one area, October another, etc.
Fhqwhgads:
LOL. I was thinking the same thing. But did you consider that the soldier injured by the “falling bear” a few months back could have been a Bigfoot incident? It took place on the Kenai peninsula where there have been sightings:

There was also a pattern of attacks a few years ago:
FYI: All of the victims were stationed at the same base. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson
