Monkey, or Bigfoot?

Man reports monkey sighting near NH border in Vermont
Man says he saw monkey Monday on Route 121

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. —Police said a resident has reported seeing a monkey on the loose in Bellows Falls, Vermont.

The Bellows Falls Police Department reported the sighting on its Facebook page.

According to the post, a man went into the police station to report seeing the monkey Monday.

Officers said the man reported seeing the monkey on Route 121 near Back Westminster Road.

The man told police the monkey crossed the road in front of him, according to the Facebook post.

Police said they were investigating the report. They asked anyone who was missing a monkey in the area to contact officers.

The department deleted its Facebook post Thursday morning.

Chief Ron Lake told WPTZ that things have “gotten too out of hand.”

He said he had been bombarded with media requests asking for comment and he was not willing to talk about the investigation.

Lake said his unwillingness to talk about the investigation did not mean the monkey had been found. He said he regretted making the original Facebook post about the resident’s reported sighting.
