Giants On Earth
Posted by: Loren Coleman on May 28th, 2011
The June 2011 issue of Fortean Times just went on sale in the United Kingdom and is being received this week in the US. It contains the following cover story:
Giants on Earth –
Do the descendents of Gigantopithecus still walk among us?
This month, two cryptozoologists argue that giants once lived among us and, even more controversially, that they might have hung on till today in the world’s remotest places.
The article is a selection from the new Mark A. Hall and Loren Coleman book, True Giants: Is Gigantopithecus Still Alive?.

About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
I was just curious as to why you guys chose that painting as your book cover? Just seems a scary to me. Is there a reason Mr. Coleman?
The cover may be personally experienced as “scary” to some. That is an important piece of information that goes to the psychological and perhaps ancient responses to True Giants of some humans.
Others find the image, variously, “beautiful,” “curious,” “powerful,” “intriguing,” and “realistic.”
As the books explains (see the extensive section on this image), the painting is by Bernard Heuvelmans’ former wife and lifelong artist friend, and depicts a 1989 sighting investigated by Heuvelmans. Needless to say, we found it “just right” for the deeper purposes and objectives of the book.
I would like to say that anyone who has not read “TRUE GIANTS”, they are not wasting their money at all. This is an awesome perspective given from the authors, especially Mr. Coleman’s thoughts on the actual history of their existence. If you want to read a good book that gives you a step by step theory on how Giganto evolved over thousands of years. What shocked me the most is the evidence and opinions given that truly make you wonder if Giganto is still walking our earth this very day. If you want to know what I am talking about. BUY THE BOOK!
Does Loren’s book cover Si-Te-Cah / the Lovelock Giants? This happens to be my crypto-interest-of-the-month subject, as luck would have it. 🙂 I have not managed to dig up too much info yet from what I would call objective sources (although I do struggle to think of any other crypto website with any cred whatsoever) and I cannot find anything on Cryptomundo on the Si-Te-Cah either.
What do the experts here know of this and the skeletons discovered in Lovelock, Nevada?
Oh, as an addendum to my previous comment I want to make sure it’s understood that I do not believe this one – 10′ human giants? Nah! I just want to know what the Cryptomundo’s know about this one and whether there was indeed anything based in real fact.
