About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but that last image was funny to me now that all the questions about who she is have been answered.
Happy birthday, Cryptomundo! I hope there are many, many, many, many years ahead with many monumental discoveries ahead.
A VERY Happy Birthday to the greatest cryptozoology blog on the entire web! I am sure this site will be here for many more years to come, you have my deepest regards and respect, YarriWarrior

The first Year was a landrush of information and news about cryptozoology. I hope, the Future will bring more fantastic Stuff all about the hidden Animals worldwide.
Great work! Thanks to Loren, Craig, John and Rick!

Happy Birthday, Cryptomundo.
One year already, happy birthday to all of you at cryptomundo! Each of the above pictures reminds me of a great story, hope there’s many more birthdays to come. I can’t help myself to mention this once again, but isn’t that a young David Bowie standing above the mystery fish in the first picture?
Yes, it has been quite a year. And in light of the latest news concerning the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker news from Florida, here is the very first post from Cryptomundo from September 29, 2005.
Ivory-Billed Woodpecker Rediscovered
Happy B’day to Cryptomundo. It has become a daily stop for me and I always learn something new on each visit. Cheers!
Happy Birthday from Germany!
Great Job, best Cryptosite in the universe and one of my most favourite sites in the whole www-world.
Hope you have lots of great stories to report in the coming months and hopefully also years: may be on the issue of the Malaysian Bigfoot (I do not dare to call it Johor Bigfoot, yes I still believe in some truth behind this story ;-)), may be on giant hominoids closer to (your) home.
Two questions:
1) any new developments on the alleged 17th century Bigfoot in the Sankt Petersburg museum;
2) what is this astonishing fish-like creature pictured on the top photo?
For all the fun of the past 12 months: cheers!
Thank you Cryptomundo; you always brighten my day.
Happy Birthday and thank you for all those interesting posts and comments 🙂
Yes, Happy Birthday! And here is something you might want to check into:
You may have already heard this, but our local CBS affiliate (WANE Ft Wayne, IN) reported this morning that home video had been made of what appeared to be a large felid in neighboring Adams County. The clip was shown and looked quite convincingly cat-like, though it was not terribly close-up. It also appeared to be quite large – leopard sized possibly. They checked with the local zoo & they admitted it looked like a large cat & suggested that one may have escaped captivity. The cat appeared to be darker than I think of a Puma being, but was very cat-like. This is either authentic or a very good hoax, because it couldn’t really be anything but a cat. The tail, the walk, were very convincing. Thought you might be interested. BC
Man, do I love this site.
I spent a long time just reading it until I finally registered. Now getting on here is one of the things I look forward to everyday when I get home from work. This site has the best articles and the most intelligent, knowledgable posters of any other cryptozoological site I know of. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more good things to come here.
Happy Birthday, Cryptomundo!
Happy birthday!

WOW! I found this website a few months ago and had no idea it was still in its rookie year. I had lost my interest in cryptozoology for many years until I came to this site, and now its become a daily ritual to visit the site.
Thanks to everyone who has made this website possible and thanks to the bloggers as well. I’ve learned a lot from all of you in these few months and hope to learn much more in the years to come. Happy Birthday!
