Secrets of the Search: Bobo’s Bigfoot Book

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on June 23rd, 2014

bbb

Bobo begins the story by tracing his own journey before tracking back to Irwin Supple, a mid-twentieth century witness, and giving a brief history of early American encounters along with the science so far: from DNA and primate forensics to state-of-the-art audio and imaging technologies. Behind-the-scenes stories about the show (including Monkey) reveal how the team got there and where they’re going. Bobo explains what you can do to become an effective squatcher—including no-tech wilderness camping, infrared and thermal imaging, casting, and scenting—all while promoting wilderness preservation, team work, personal safety, and respect for private property.

Yowie Sighting at Upper Coomera, Queensland

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on June 22nd, 2014

Jogging down a bush track at Upper Coomera, a tall creature covered in long reddish/brown hair similar to an Orangutan ran across the track only 8 metres ahead of the Witness.

Unusually, the small dog took pursuit of the creature while the witness ran back to the car and drove home.

Later she returned to look for the dog and found it in pain with its leg snapped at a 90 degree forward facing angle. The dog was taken to the local Vet who said the break was definitely no accident.

Pepie: The Lake Monster of the Mississippi River

Posted by: John Kirk on June 14th, 2014

For a few years I’ve been examining news reports about a purported cryptid in Lake Pepin, Minnesota. Lake Pepin is actually part of the Mississippi river. Saw this article yesterday and it gets my goat when a cryptid is classed as paranormal. They are not. They are biological, end of story.

Driving down the range from Thredbo in the middle of the night, a group of men are confronted by a large Yowie walking up the road in sleeting snow wearing a deer skin over its shoulders.

The men have a great visual of the creature before it leapt off an embankment and down a steep hill. When at the bottom of the valley below, it let roar with long bellowing screams.

Warning: Contains strong language.

The Secret of Blackjack Woods

Posted by: Lyle Blackburn on May 31st, 2014

I don’t often read fiction, but occasionally a book comes across my path that beckons me to put aside scholarly texts and enjoy a good story. Case in point, The Secret of Blackjack Woods, the debut novel by Ashlen Brown. I recently met the Texas-based author at a cryptozoology event where I picked up a copy. Having no prior knowledge of her book, I was initially drawn in by its mysterious title and cover – which seems to hint at a Bigfoot story – and after a brief conversation with Brown I learned that indeed the impetus for her novel had come from an incident in which her mother and sister sighted a mysterious creature near their family home in Texas. This led to speculation that it could have been a Bigfoot which later inspired Brown to write her heart-felt and downright exciting novel.
