2014 Arkansas Bigfoot Conference Postponed
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on April 30th, 2014
While I was in Ohio and the Ohio Bigfoot Conference was drawing to a close, we heard the news of devastating tornadoes in Central Arkansas.
One of the towns hit hard was Vilonia, AR, the site of what was to be the inaugural Arkansas Bigfoot Conference this coming weekend.
Here is an update from the conference organizer:
My fellow squatchers,
As most of you know, Vilonia was hit with a devastating tornado Sunday evening. At the present time there are eight dead and hundreds injured in our little town. This was something definitely unforeseen. Due to this catastrophe, we are having to postpone the Boot Camp and the Conference. I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience to you.
If you have pre-paid by PayPal, please let me know if you want to be reimbursed or to stay prepaid for the boot camp and conference happening a few months from now. For those of you who have paid by check, I have not deposited any of the checks I have received yet and will either return them to you or tear them up. Just let me know what you want me to do. You will get your money back.
I have attached some photos of what we are dealing with in Vilonia. You may have seen the devastation already. Our household power is still out and may not be back on until Friday. The municipal building where the conference was to be held has been commandeered by the Red Cross, FEMA and the Disaster Relief Groups for an indefinite period. Even the area on Vilanco Lane where the Boot Camp was to be held has houses destroyed and trees down. There is no way that our town could host this event.
The proceeds from this event were to benefit the Veterans and Military museum. It was hit hard as well. We worked hard yesterday getting the military artifacts out of the damaged building. If there was a time that the museum needed a fundraiser, it is now!
Once again, I’m sorry that things didn’t work out for this weekend. I’ve got your emails and phone numbers and will let you know the plans as soon as the dust settles. Please pray for us in Vilonia!
