Bill Munns Plans an Oscar-Worthy Bigfoot Documentary

Bill Munns is Planning a Full-Length Feature Documentary on the Patterson/Gimlin Film
Bill Munns is a Hollywood creature designer, 3D computer graphics professional, and arguably the foremost expert on the Patterson/Gimlin film. Bill Munns is campaigning for funds and planning the production of a feature length documentary touting, “the remarkable truth of the Patterson/Gimlin Film, and the Bigfoot/Sasquatch phenomenon.”
According to Bill Munns’ video on Indiegogo (see below), his goal is to produce something worthy of submitting to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a/k/a the Oscars. He believes this level of visibility will encourage mainstream media to take notice and raise the bar for intelligent discussion.
At Indiegogo, the crowdsourcing website Bill Munns has chosen, he describes the documentary:
The documentary, by it’s very title, seems to be focused simply on the PGF event, but it will equally give abundant attention to the many other respectful research efforts ongoing today. But an excellent documentary feature tells a story the audience can relate to, and the concept I have chosen is to first take the one most powerful event in Bigfoot/Sasquatch lore and show why, beyond any doubt, it is a real event, and then, with that established, expand the story to the current research efforts, their accomplishments and their challenges as they continue. So the PGF, the event where Roger Patterson met and filmed the entity we call Patty, that is the title centerpiece of this story, and effectively sets up the discussions of current research. So please do not think this project neglects the many fine research endeavors currently ongoing. The PGF focus in the title is simply what in great narrative program structure is referred to as “the hook”, that element which catches the public and mainstream media’s attention and holds on, so they will continue to watch and learn about all the other fine research projects today.
I’ve already got 5 years of concentrated effort in the PGF analysis, some wonderful scientific research that was funded by the Cestone Foundation through the greatly appreciated assistance of Prof. Jef Meldrum, and I’ve got about 15 hours of HD video already accumulated as potential footage for the documentary. So I’m well positioned to reach the goal. But producing a feature documentary that is eligible for Academy Award consideration and festival submission is a major undertaking, and needs some financial support. So that’s what I’m asking for now.
Munns also describes a the documentary approach and a possible second episodic format for perhaps television.
The Documentary Concept
A great documentary tells a story in a focused and concise way, The documentary program concept recognizes that the PGF is the most familiar event in the mind of the general public and media, so the program leads with a definitive summation of why the PGF is real. Then the program branches out to examine the many new technique and new technologies being applied to this elusive entity we call Bigfoot or Sasquatch. I have commitments for interviews with Jeff Meldrum, Brian Brown and the TBRC/TWARC field studies, Bart Cutino and his thermal studies, and The Olympic Project’s remarkably diligent field studies.
Second, the production concept is that researchers, not TV program executives, should control the editing and content decisions. TV Program executives have lost sight of reality and responsible science and can’t resist program eye candy and sensationalism, out of context, over science in context. The story of this remarkably mysterious entity must be told with sincere respect for the real science, the real research, and the real challenges of bringing this entity into a position of biological science recognition. The content decisions and the final edit must be in the hands of researchers. This program will be.
Program Versions
One of the unique aspects of this project is that it recognizes that studies of this topic need different levels of detail and varying presentation times for different audiences, and so the final program result will be set up with four levels of comprehensive information.

Well, it’s about time.
Too much ignorance has been circulating, for way too long, about this film.
Time to clear the air.
If I had to – had to, mind you – bet everything I owned, Patty’s an unlisted animal.
That’s the only rational take. Because it’s the only one the evidence backs. Time for everyone to see that.
Exceptionally good news to me, and many others who have followed Mr. Munns’ always cogent discussion of the PG film on the Bigfoot Forums board.
In all honesty, I was dreading to know what his long term conclusions would be, mainly because I knew, whatever they were, I would have to accept them, and I had long ago made the unscientific conclusion that Patty was the real thing. Bill brings that level of credibility to this field. Anyone who claims to have more of an understanding of what is on that film, aside from the two men present when it was made, have a tough row to hoe.
I think Bill Munns is great and and this venture is wonderful as described. The only possible negative I see in reading this is his attribution to credibililty of the Olympic Project work as valid. I am not so sure, if this is the same group from which that “Matilda” nonsense arose, but if so, he should distance himself from that rather than embrace. I personally don’t find shooting a film of a person in a “wookie” costume to be “dilligent” field work.
William,
Bill Munns has already totally dismissed the Matilda footage as a Chewbacca like mask. He thinks it’s a total fake, so I wouldn’t worry at all on that score.
@Kopite – thanks, I now seem to recall he was actually the one who pointed it out, now that you mention it.
PG FILM Has already been proven a hoax. Why would you make a documentary that includes this phony footage?
@tpanek – I am not aware that the PG film has ever been “proven a hoax.” If anything, it has NEVER been proven a hoax. Several claims have been made by people that they were wearing a suit in the film and impersonating the bigfoot, but this has never been even remotely replicated, whereas multiple film, costume, and location analysis have shown the opposite of a hoax.
Apparently, you have never seen the convincing analysis done by Bill Munns. He has essentially ruled out any real possibility of a hoax. The costume technology did not exist back then to make such a realistic suit to match the arm length, leg bulk, and realistic muscle mass and movements shown. Plus why go to all the trouble and extra detail to show breasts in a costume?
tpanek:
In this field full of uncertainties, there are some flat true and false statements.
You just made one of the latter.

Maybe I’m naive, but the moment I started reading his analysis I stopped worrying. I kind of knew how it was going to come out.
There was something in me that said: anybody who is showing that all this would be required is going to show how it all got on site without P and G ever finding out about it …or will perforce discuss how, if they were in on it, nothing like that has ever come to light.
Like I said, maybe naive of me. But from the start, I didn’t see Munns putting all that gear on Bluff Creek.
As you said, however: if he had shown how it could have happened, I would have to seriously discount P/G as a credible piece of evidence. Because as you say: he brings that level of credibility.
I don’t know of anyone who has done more work; who has engaged skeptics more wholeheartedly; and who has stuck more credibly to his guns.
This would be the heck of the movie. We’ll have sasquatch confirmed, I predict, within months if it comes out.
So let’s get that ‘if.’
