Animal Planet’s Buildup To Finding Bigfoot: “Swamp Ape”

On Sunday, June 5, 2011, the programmers at Animal Planet (AP) have slanted a collection of episodes of cryptid-related shows to lead up to the evening screening of “Finding Bigfoot: Swamp Ape.”

Man v. Monster: Nat Geo Wild

Tales abound in every corner of the world telling of creatures that are rumored to feed on human flesh, drag swimmers to their deaths, or swoop down from the sky to take us off in their clutches.

On their face, these stories appear to be the very definition of urban legend — except for the eyewitness accounts, victim testimony, or visual evidence that appear to prove the contrary. Are they myths? Or could these monsters be real?

Forty Percent of Washingtonians Believe Sasquatch Might Exist

PEMCO surveyed users online and found out many are open to the idea that Bigfoot is lumbering through the woods somewhere.

Nearly four out of 10 surveyed responded — rather vaguely –that they think it’s possible Sasquatch exists. Maybe more importantly, about 13 percent said they’ve seen a Sasquatch or know someone who has.

The third season of “River Monsters”, the best performing series in network history, recently wrapped on Monday with ratings that helped push AP to third among all ad-supported cable networks in its timeslot. It was immediately followed by a special preview of the new series “Finding Bigfoot”, which nabbed 1.3M viewers.
