Survivorman: Bigfoot Episode Upcoming
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on November 22nd, 2012
We have covered Les (Survivorman) Stroud’s Bigfoot Encounter here on Cryptomundo previously: Les Stroud’s Survivorman Bigfoot Encounter
Les was just on Joe Rogan’s show a few days ago and they discussed Bigfoot on the show.
Apparently there will be a special Survivorman Bigfoot episode!
They also discussed Finding Bigfoot and Meldrum’s Falcon Project.
Here’s the video of the Bigfoot segment. Of course, being as it is Joe Rogan’s show, there is some off-color language…
About Craig Woolheater
Co-founder of Cryptomundo in 2005.
I have appeared in or contributed to the following TV programs, documentaries and films:
OLN's Mysterious Encounters: "Caddo Critter", Southern Fried Bigfoot, Travel Channel's Weird Travels: "Bigfoot", History Channel's MonsterQuest: "Swamp Stalker", The Wild Man of the Navidad, Destination America's Monsters and Mysteries in America: Texas Terror - Lake Worth Monster, Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot: Return to Boggy Creek and Beast of the Bayou.
Actually, this is a great idea. Have some guy like this who can survive in alone in the wild without supplies, supply him then dump him with a camera and a gps in the mountains of B.C.
To me, this is VERY interesting. He mentions he might go to multiple locations and film so it might become a series hopefully!
At 8:18 of this video he mentions Todd Standing…end of credibility.
If Les Stroud wanted to do some serious scientific research…he would not turn to Todd Standing for assistance.
Names like Biscardi, Smeja, Moneymaker, Standing, all names that ring of dissapointment and exaggeration.
Please Les Stroud do not add your name to a list like that.
Dr Meldrum, Esteban Sarmiento, Jane Goodall, Shaller, Coon, etc…Les find a name like that to support your efforts and no matter what you find, your credibility will always be respected
In my opinion
mandors: precisely what I been sayin’ for time outa. We need a sasquatch Jane Goodall. And we need precisely these skills. (And don’t forget that notebook. There’s only so much they can say he made that up.)
CDC: No kidding. Standing is Say It Ain’t So, in about the same number of letters. One skill you will need to develop, S-Man, is picking the company you keep. Goodall had Leakey. Picking Leaky Boat instead sinks you before you set sail.
And for God’s sake don’t run all over the continent! Do this the way scientists do it (the way the TBRC is doing it): find a place with much historic and substantial recent evidence, and hunker down for the duration. Goodall made her bones at Gombe Stream, not at If It’s Thursday, This Must Be Congo.
Make this about science, and not about ratings….and the ratings will take care of themselves. Imagine if Survivorman were actually looking for something. And had a decent chance of finding it.
Right.
CDC: Please be advised Todd Standing has a photo of a Bigfoot amidst the words of your post!
@ Goodfoot – Yet another bizarre post. A month ago you commented that Bigfoot is “not an ape at all” on a previous Les Stroud/Bigfoot post. Think you are the last person to be judging bigfoot photos based upon your previous hypothesis.
i think its a great idea…. hopefully they’ll go to a real location and try to get some real evidence, unlike the ‘other’ show…. lol
i’m still baffled with all the technology today… why not go to one of those spots…. with lots of history, and sightings… and FLOOD the area with camera traps or video cameras.
@ Goodfoot
I have seen every picture ever published on Bigfoot…and a few from private collections that have not been published. To this day, the ONLY credible pictures I have seen are stills from Patterson/Gimlin and maybe a few stills from Freeman. That’s it.
Pictures do not prove a thing…and Todd Standing’s pictures are proof of that.
EVERY picture Standing has published can be REPLICATED either with mask, fur suit, bad angle, or poor focus. The same can be said for any picture since photoshop came along.
Patterson/Gimlin is the exception as the year the film was made and the camera and film that were used, pre-dates the special effects the digital world has opened to us
But to me, none of that matters…I consider the source. If Todd Standing, Tom Biscardi, Matt Moneymaker, Justin Smeja, all published pictures of Bigfoot tomorrow, no matter how clear they wood be…it would not prove a thing. However, if Jane Goodall published a picture of Bigfoot tomorrow, she would submit it in a paper for peer review with whatever supporting evidence she had, and we would be on our way to determining a new species.
It’s the source Goodfoot. Respect and credibility are earned, not given. You are “giving” Todd Standing credibility he has not “earned” Goodfoot.
In my opinion
I am a little disappointed in LS. Mentioning Todd Standing and thinking that 2 weeks camped out in hots spots (where are the hots spots?) is the way to go. I say he should bring back the second wife and spend another year in the middle of nowhere.
dconstrukt:
One of the problems with your idea is money. Another is dinero; a third, argent; and a fourth…moolah.
Bigfooters who aren’t on TV are paying out of their own pockets for this stuff, with money made from those jobs that eat up, along with family time, 99% of their field time.
Right. The fifth: Time. Which is: greenbacks.
And it helps to know the habits of the target species so you know where to place those cameras. The Bornean race of the Sumatran rhinoceros evaded cameras for ten years…long after we pretty much (thought we) knew everything about it.
Mr. Joshua: I am sorry, but you will have to explain to me what I said that indicated to you that I no longer believe Bigfoots are apes, because they are not. As for “bizarre”, well, perhaps you are not great at reading with comprehension. AT NO TIME IN MY LIFE have I believed them to be apes. Everything I have seen and heard indicates otherwise. They are close relatives of Homo Sapiens. As opposed to, for instance, apes.
I agree that any association with many of the individuals mentioned would damage even the most prestigious person’s credibility, but I think it is important to remember that not everyone listed has been proven to be a hoaxer or fabricator of evidence. We assume they are because their evidence is quite lacking, or for some other reason that does not “prove” their status as a hoaxer.
I also think that Les Stroud does not know any better. I doubt he understands the political relationships involved in sasquatch research, which sadly is only getting worse, and he does not know the information behind many of these people. Like me, he probably just automatically expects people to be forthcoming and honest, and I totally understand that. And people must remember that even a notorious hoaxer can have a legitimate, documented sasquatch encounter.
I doubt Stroud would take part in any form of hoaxing, especially considering his hit show that featured him walking around through the woods. I mean that the show is interesting just because of the character, and not necessarily the content. Sort of like why I liked watching Bob Ross.
DWA… i hear ya…. IMO… they’re wasting time/money on all kinda other stupid stuff… i’m sure the money is there somewhere, but even if not…
you can reduce the $$ needed by analyzing data better. (an area this field to me, seems somewhat lacking in)
its 2012, almost 2013, we have amazing computer capabilities, and with the right person and data, you can, i pretty much guarantee you, find patterns and significant hotspots, times of year, etc.
all that data is there, just waiting to be analyzed.
