What Throws Rocks in the Woods?

While leading a group of people down a trail in Wisconsin I heard something in the woods parallel our movement. When we stopped in clearings we would hear wood knocks (from two differing directions), branches snapping and eventually we had rocks thrown at us. I had night vision and a thermal but whatever it was stayed far enough away that we could not see them. The rocks came from farther away in the woods and were thrown toward us. It was a bit spooky because bear don’t throw rocks. Don’t worry, we went into the woods trying to find them and checked out the area the next two days. Whatever it was, they won that round. Could have been ghosts, aliens, chupacabra, Coelacanth… The audio was amplified to make the wood knocks stand out. That is why it sounds a bit weird.

Where in Wisconsin is this?
Although covered with hundreds of thousands of acres of woods, Wisconsin does not have much of a bigfoot tradition and no county has more than 6 reported sightings, per the BFRO website.
I don’t find these sorts of sounds in the night encounters very convincing, particularly ones like these that are so soft and non-distinctive as opposed to a few of the louder knocks heard on Finding Bigfoot (and even then, such knocks could be readily hoaxed, as they are heard only after being pinpointed to a particular area at one of the town hall meetings which certainly must be attended by some people as a joke). Acorns, hickory nuts, walnuts, and dead tree branches fall all the time in the woods and those items, rather than a tall shy cryptid, are the more likely explanation for what we heard in this video.
