I can’t express how excited and privelaged I am to be collaborating with a professional tracker of Jim Halfpenny’s stature on this first-of-its-kind workshop on tracking rare, elusive and “unknown” species. September 10th is the closing date for registration. Please spread the word. Share this post with friends you think may be interested. A successful course of this nature will set a precedent for interest and cooperation in the tracking community and provide the opportunity for investigators to gain invaluable skills that will aid them in identifying, collecting, and documenting credible reliable data — not to mention spend a weekend in one of the most spectacular spots on the planet — the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem!Jeff Meldrum

I hope that Messer’s Meldrum and Halfpenny will include someone who is well versed in plaster effects and casting procedures or lack thereof, so that some of these dermal ridges can be properly explained for what they actually might be…poor casting techniques. Having been a professional sculptor for over 35 years, I am well versed in plaster castings and if the casts were showing such small details as dermal ridges (more properly friction ridges) they would also be showing toe prints and callus formation and all manner of identifiable marks. Crime investigation techs have been using feet print databases for years.
