If Bigfoot is real, would a $10,000,000 bounty be enough to bring the beast down? That’s the premise of a new show on Spike TV. In this episode, MonsterTalk interviews two of the scientists who are working on the show to find out if this is a serious search for Bigfoot, or just folks out in the woods raising cane.
Natalia Reagan is an anthropologist, comedian, writer, actress and a co-host of the Ten Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. Her academic work has focused on spider monkeys, primate conservation, and evolutionary biology. She combines her wit and creativity with her passion for science advocacy to help make educational videos. As an actress, she’s appeared on shows such as My Name is Earl and Better Off Ted—and as a science consultant on The Today Show and Fox Edge News. This is her first appearance on MonsterTalk.
Dr. Todd Disotell is a professor of anthropology at NYU, and a co-host of the new Spike TV show the Ten Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. MonsterTalk listeners will remember Todd from previous visits going back to the very first episode of our show, as well as his appearances on MonsterQuest and Is It Real? He has been a prominent voice for science advocacy and skepticism in cryptozoology.

Yessir. We are gonna get straight poop from an anthropologist/comedian.
Whoa. Natalia just said “science isn’t static.” Well, this field might refute that. But for the moment…
OK, wait, glimmer of light.
Last team standing apparently gets a $100K “research grant.”
Either a chance to do “Finding Bigfoot: The Fail Continues” …or something that might, you know, work.
Of course they get a “research grant”- what better way to segway into season 2?
PoeticsOfBigfoot: And the problem with that?
The more Bigfoot TV the more public interest, is one thing I have to say about Bigfoot TV. If you listen to this, these teams are getting solid scientific advice. Gotta admit, Todd and Natalia have tossed some chops into the ring, whatever one thinks of their overall attitude toward the topic.
The question is whether whatever the “grant” gets used for is bigfoot research or Bigfoot TV. The former is better; but “Finding Bigfoot” shows that even when the TV is all that’s going on, the field can benefit.
