New Champ Photos Released

Posted by: Katy Elizabeth on August 10th, 2015

Here is the most recent sighting report submitted to Champ Search on 08/01/05 complete with photos of a large animal submerging.

Spotted something large in the water while waiting for the draw bridge to close coming off from North Hero. It was at 7:30pm 8/01/15. My fiancé was taking photos of the lake with her ipad when something large came up. She noticed a smooth large hump appear from the water and then slowly submerge. She took four photos of what looks like a large line in calm water that appears and gets smaller. I saw her reaction and missed it as I turned to see what she was reacting to.

    Pictures are disappointing.

  2. cryptokellie responds:

Interesting set of images. Hard to tell if this is wave action or an actual hump. Would like to see some further images at the same area with something provided for better scale. Also, no long neck seen or mentioned which would be either a hoax or misidentification of an inanimate object.

  3. Goodfoot responds:

I see something like a log. The pictures aren’t helpful at all. So it generates little interest from me.

  4. springheeledjack responds:

Interesting indeed. The range is a little long, but still cool. If we have a reference of time as to how long the object was visible would solve the wave vs. solid object issue.

A long neck would have been nice. Certainly wouldn’t have meant it was a hoax or misidentification.

  5. sasquatch responds:

Could be a log from this scant evidence….if it was video, then maybe we could perceive some animalistic movement, but alas…

  6. springheeledjack responds:

Sadly, that’s why I find looking at evidence and pics and even videos for water cryptids so dismal. One, we’re usually only getting a few seconds (or snapshots in this case) of footage, and we’re looking at only what shows above water.

There’s no way to follow up on the pics/vids after the fact by inspecting the area other than quizzing down the witness(es). You can visit the immediate area, but you’re not going to get any more information because whatever might have been there is gone (unless you can corroborate with other witnesses or find a log laying next to the shore with similar dimensions…or find a critter washed up on the beach).

At least with Bigfoot you can investigate the area looking for samples of hair, tracks, etc.

Still, I love the water cryptids. These pics just add to a growing list of lore and possibilities on Champ.
