The Cryptozoologicon is Coming!

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 19th, 2013

Cryptozoologicon [is] a beautifully illustrated work focusing on cryptids, the (sometimes mundane, sometimes bizarre, sometimes nonsense) creatures of the cryptozoological literature. We’re just about done and are looking to launch soon… in fact, we’ve created so much material that we’re now going to be producing TWO VOLUMES.Cryptozoologicon Vol I launches soon in 2013; Vol II will follow soon after.Tetrapod Zoology

Where are the Cryptoarcheologists and Cryptopaleontologists?

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 18th, 2013

So if you’re looking for Bigfoot – or any cryptid, for that matter – put down the infrared camera and pick up a book on anatomy and get busy combing the museums for remains. Read old journals and catalogs of finds. Ask your local fossil club to let you tag along when they go to “Bigfoot country.” In short, if you’re serious, get serious about finding REAL physical evidence. If a great ape ever lived in North America, he had to leave some of himself behind.

Bigfoot Files: Episode 1 Trailer

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 16th, 2013

Mark Evans travels to the Himalayas to find the real story behind the centuries-old Yeti legend.

He risks altitude sickness at Everest Base Camp, where the photograph of a footprint in the snow set off Yeti mania in 1951. He traces the legend through ancient manuscripts, holy relics and a Nazi expedition, and meets people convinced they have come face-to-face with the creature known in the west as the Abominable Snowman.

Meanwhile Professor Sykes reveals the results of his DNA tests on the Yeti hair samples he’s collected. The results are spectacular and unexpected.

The Quest for the Yeti

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 15th, 2013

The Quest for the Yeti will describe Sykes’ hunt for genetic traces of species whose existence remains scientifically unconfirmed, including the Yeti, the Sasquatch and Big Foot. For the most part the samples he has tracked down for analysis have turned out to be known species such as humans, bears or apes; however two samples taken towards the end of his quest will “change our understanding of human history”.

‘The Yeti May Be Real’ Says Sir David Attenborough

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 13th, 2013

Sir David said that the Himalayan forests which cover over 14,000 square miles could easily contain a Yeti.

“If there are some still alive and you walked near their habitat you can bet that these creatures may be aware of you, but you wouldn’t be aware of them,” he added.

Matt Bille Reviews Abominable Science

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 8th, 2013

Loxton and Prothero have written a very good book, which I reviewed on Amazon as a 4.5 star effort (I’ll explain why I had to downgrade it just a bit) that goes on the “must reading” list for anyone interested in cryptozoology. I’ve been following this field for decades now without seeing anything that fills this niche – that of the scientific, skeptical (in the good sense of the word) consideration of the entire field and its most spectacular maybe-creatures.
