Bobcat Goldthwait’s Bigfoot thriller Willow Creek will be shown Tuesday night, October 22 in Portland, OR.
After seeing the film on June 9th as part of the 2013 Oak Cliff Film Festival, I told Bobcat that Willow Creek was the “Best f@#$ing Bigfoot movie ever, and Bigfoot wasn’t even shown!”

Willow Creek certainly delivers in more than one area and for this sasquatch guy, it lives up to the hype. It was funny in the beginning, suspenseful in the middle and scary in the end.

“Willow Creek” tells the story–through found film footage–of Jim and Kelly, a couple who are trying to make a documentary about Bigfoot by traveling to the Pacific Northwest, visiting some of the tourist traps of Bigfoot Country and camping out at the site of the most famous Bigfoot sighting of all-time, Bluff Creek.

Provocateur Bobcat Goldthwaite has made a low-budget, backwoods horror flick that’s surprisingly engaging and scary as hell.

Many folks have asked what I thought about Bobcat Goldthwait’s new Bigfoot movie, WILLOW CREEK. I was lucky enough to attend a screening with Bobcat himself and more recently view a screener of the released film. Rue Morgue magazine has kindly allowed me to reprint my review (which appeared in their July issue) for Cryptomundo.

I said I would comment on Bobcat Goldthwait’s excellent (showing my bias already) film Willow Creek.
Horror movies are not my cup of tea generally and I think the last two I saw were Scream-The Original and I Know What You Did Last Summer over a decade ago.
So I went into this wide open to experiencing a little suspense. I got more than I bargained for.

This snippet finds the film’s protagonists huddled in their tent listening to something wailing outside. What’s behind the sound? Can someone say…Bigfoot? Maybe?

SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) is screening Bobcat Goldthwait’s Bigfoot film, Willow Creek, twice during the festival.
If you are in the area, I suggest that you attend a screening.
Described by Jimmy Kimmel as “Scary and the Hendersons” and by writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait himself as “The Blair-Squatch Project,” found footage movie Willow Creek is a radical departure in Goldthwait’s career after directing a string of black comedies (World’s Greatest Dad, God Bless America).
