Best selling author David James Gordon will teach you how to use “citizen science” to better understand nature and, perhaps in the process, even Sasquatch.
Citizen Science Meets Sasquatch: How a well-trained group of citizen scientists can solve the mystery of North America’s most elusive creature
Looking for something different? Really different? On Thursday, June 18, join best selling author David James Gordon at the Northwest Stream Center for a 7 p.m. presentation on the use of “citizen science.”
He will inspire you to observe nature more keenly, gather scientifically acceptable data, and hone your tracking and wilderness navigation skills as you go on a virtual hunt for Sasquatch.
Gordon has packaged great citizen science gathering techniques in a new book called The Sasquatch Seeker’s Field Manual published by Mountaineers Books.
He says, “Becoming a proficient citizen scientist is a step toward bringing this creature into the spotlight of scientific scrutiny.
“And along the way, this manual deepens your appreciation of the Sasquatch and its place as the Wildman of the Woods.”
You also will learn how to gather good information about any critter in the great Northwest.
Gordon is the award-winning author of The Secret World of Slugs and Snails:Life in the Very Slow Lane and 19 other books about wildlife and wild places.
He has spoken at the Smithsonian Institution, Yale University and Ripley’s Believe it or Not! museums in San Francisco, Hollywood and New York.
“Whatever you say about this man, he is truly a champion of the obscure,” observed Japan’s Sin Ra magazine.
