  1. DWA responds:

    Why.

  2. Old Philosopher responds:

    I’m tired of this show.

When is someone going to figure out that running around with lights and loaded guns in the middle of the night is not the way to capture an elusive wild creature that has eluded hunters for years?

Anyone with a moment’s trapping experience knows you don’t/can’t chase an animal into a trap, unless it’s a snare on a known escape trail.

  3. Old Philosopher responds:

DWA, is “why” a question? And if so, why what?

  4. slick1ru2 responds:

Looks like the same format of Mountian Monsters. Might be the same production crew. Looks scripted to some extent and has the same format with a couple witnesses, one having some type of video or photo. This show seems to be the more dangerous of the two to shoot, if it’s really shot in Alaska, because there is dangerous wildlife and they need to be armed. I am not sure I’d trust those guys around me with loaded weapons. I’d like to know what they are armed with, unique looking assortment. I’m not a hunter but if they came upon a mad grizzly I don’t know if they could stop it.

  5. KernalPanic responds:

I agree with slick and Old Philosopher…so so disappointing. I was excited about Alaska Monsters when it first came out but it’s pretty much the same thing as Mountain Monsters, the cast of over-the-top characters, the format…everything about it feels forced. The Grizzly Adams wannabe leader is painful to watch. The old guy with a ponytail in his beard has such an annoying voice, it was all I could do to watch just one episode. I wish they’d bring Destination Truth back. Even though Josh Gates never finds anything, at least he’s funny as hell and their misadventures are entertaining.

Based purely on the preview in iTunes, I will not watch this show. When the characters annoy you in a 30 second clip, how are you supposed to get through an hours worth? lol Sorry but they need another crypto show that doesn’t involve a bunch of hill billies running around with flashlights and shotguns. I really miss Monsterquest… I enjoyed that show immensely. I remember back when they cancelled it,.. they wanted to “go in a different direction” so they bring out shows like “Appalachian Outlaws”, “Hairy Bikers” etc…. Smooth move History… real smooth.

D.T. was great. And I liked the one with Charles Fort’s relative and also Fact or Faked. It’s sad but the Golden Age of Cryptid Expedition TV shows appears to be behind us. Moneymaker’s show is a showcase in futility, they never get anything new or noteworthy, if they did it would be in the news because they film well before they air. Sigh, RIP Monster Quest.

There still are a few good paranormal shows though like Unexplained Files and Close Encounters:Examined. But those aren’t a hunt or expedition show, they are case file shows.

  8. Old Philosopher responds:

Don’t forget the “mocumentaries”, like Mermaids and Megalodon. I’d almost trade the hirsute hillbillies for faked facts and credited actors.
The sad part is a great number of people believe those programs.
I chuckled when someone mentioned Destination Truth. They’d go half way around the globe to spend one night “investigating”, and come up empty handed.
My one observation about Josh Gates and Erin Ryder (be still, my heart) is that they got paid entirely too much money to have entirely too much fun! I’m green with envy!
