It’s an enigma…almost one I’d fire toward Fortean if only because it was a kind of “one shot” deal. Granted it was sighted over a period of time, but then it was gone and hasn’t really been seen since (as far as I know). There are a slew of cryptids and other fortean sightings of odd creatures that show up for a short span of time and then disappear into the nether (including my dastardly namesake). I’m not really sure what to make of things like that, of course the popular beliefs are mass hysteria and misidentification.

If I ever get the time, I’d love to throw together a database of sightings on the odd things like Mothman and the lizard men out of Illinois, etc. to see if there are time periods where things of such nature appear more often or any other patterns that might arise from people seeing strange beings.

Enough people reported actually seeing the Mothman which leads me to believe there was something physical being seen in that area, but as to what it really was…once one of you creates a time machine we can go find out together.

Where can I get a Mothman costume? I haven’t had a good Halloween since I was… a LONG time ago.

    Mothman! Scarier than Methman….
