Abominable Science! Authors Interviewed

Q: How widespread is the belief in cryptids such as Bigfoot or the Yeti?

Daniel Loxton: Much more widespread than the fringe reputation of the topic suggests. For example, when asked “Do you think Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch) is real?” in a 2012 Angus-Reid poll, 7 percent of American respondents affirmed the belief that Bigfoot “Definitely is real,” and 22% said Bigfoot “Probably is real.” That’s a more-or-less typical response to polls about cryptid beliefs. And that adds up to an awful lot of people.

Craig Woolheater of Cryptomundo.com fame will be hosting the Minnesota Iceman unveiling at The Museum of the Weird in Austin Texas and presenting a special introduction to the new Bigfoot call device and novelty noisemaker, SquatchIt. Craig will demonstrate the operation of SquatchIt for those in attendance as well as unveil the SquatchIt crowd funding initiative scheduled for launch later in July. Craig will be joined by Lyle Blackburn, who will be signing copies of his books including, “The Beast of Boggy Creek”. Ken Gerhard, author and cryptozoologist, will also be presenting a historical overview of the Minnesota Iceman.
