Van Meter Visitor Festival

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 23rd, 2015

The 112th Anniversary of the Bewildering Week in 1903 celebrated this Saturday, September 26th.

It was a classic rural community that had been carved out of rolling hills covered in thick woods, wheat fields and a winding river when someone first saw something that didn’t belong. The sightings swiftly spiraled from unusual lights acting in unexplained ways, to that of immense 8′ tall creatures with massive bat-like wings. As the nightly encounters of The Van Meter Visitor continued, the creature grew bolder, drawing closer to witnesses revealing more details to the mystery as described with a large single horn jutting out from atop its head, able to emanate blinding light and a strange smell that disoriented witnesses. All the more terrifying…the monster seemed to remain impervious to bullets.
