Finding Bigfoot: Rejected Evidence

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on January 15th, 2014

What sort of proof do we need to find a sasquatch? In our new web series Finding Bigfoot: Rejected Evidence, Executive Producer Keith Hoffman analyses evidence rejected during the production of the series and discusses why it wasn’t fit for TV.

A Nonchalant Sighting in Utah

Trapshooters in Utah catch an interesting glimpse of a creature in the woods. Problem is, they’re awfully chill about the whole thing, which raises Keith’s suspicions about its authenticity.

Ogopogo: Canada’s Loch Ness Monster

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on January 15th, 2014

Scotland’s Loch Ness may have the fame as far as lake monsters go, but for many monster searchers (often dubbed cryptozoologists), Ogopogo — a creature said to lurk in Canada’s Lake Okanagan — is the most likely and best documented of all lake monsters.

Mothman Mystery Solved! So Not

Posted by: Regan Lee on January 14th, 2014

The “article” by Harold Hutchinson is a mere one page. Not even that, for roughly 1/4 of the page is taken up with graphics and the title “UFO Mystery Solved: “Mothmen” Were Actually Green Berets.

So right away, the complex topic of UFOs is combined with Mothman, and we’re off. Yes, UFOs were seen in Pt. Pleasant along with Mothman, but the intent here is to just put all the weirdness into one category and be done with it.

Behind the Scenes of Finding Bigfoot: “Lonestar Squatch” with Cliff Barackman

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on January 14th, 2014

Texas has long been recognized as great habitat for bigfoot, particularly in its eastern parts. Much of this acknowledgment is due to the combined efforts of local bigfooters and the groups they have formed in an effort to work collaboratively. There is still a thriving bigfoot community (the human kind) in the state, a very well-attended annual bigfoot conference, as well as a sizable bigfoot population to boot. I knew it would only be a matter of time before the Finding Bigfoot team visited the Lone Star State to look for our furry friends.

Teddy’s Sasquatch Tale: Bauman Identified?

Among the books written by Roosevelt out in remote Montana was The Wilderness Hunter, published in 1893. Tossed in between tales of heroic hunters and tough-as-nails outdoorsmen is one puzzling piece of history that cryptozoologists have latched on to as a second hand account of one man’s encounter with something as-yet unidentified. Roosevelt himself rationalized it as a credible account of something horrific and made no attempt to pass judgment on the man who told him the story, leaving its validity up to readers to decide, but nonetheless documented the precise details in his book.
