In at least a few instances, these involved the bones of what appeared to be “giant” bodies recovered from a number of burial mounds throughout the Eastern United States. While many such discoveries have been reported, and were even discussed in the reports of the Smithsonian’s Ethnology Bureau throughout the late 1890s, it seems very strange that such information nonetheless seems to have simply “vanished” from record after that period.

The tree was no more than 10 meters distant from the place where the meat was roasting, and she approached it. Her initial impression was to feel that someone was chewing, making noises as they ate something. But upon coming closer, she noticed a pair of shiny, reddish eyes looking at her from the middle of the tree. The being – or whatever it was – rested in a seating position, settling between two branches in a “T” shape.
