While on a recent book research trip (I’m working on a follow-up to The Beast of Boggy Creek), I passed through Darien County in Georgia where I had the opportunity to stop off and investigate a famous cryptozoo creature known as the Altamaha-ha, or “Altie” for short. Although this particular creature does not fit into the scope of my new book project, I did not want to pass up an opportunity to learn a bit more about the legend and visit a few sighting locations.

Over the past ten months many people have refereed to film maker Brian T. Jaynes film, “Boggy Creek”, as a remake of the late Charles B. Pierce’s 1972 cult classic, “Legend of Boggy Creek”, but as we wade through the severed limbs in these photos, it becomes evident that we have an entirely different type of movie on our hands here.
Indeed, from this batch of photos, which were just released by the Facades FX creature shop, who is doing all the effects work on “Boggy Creek”, it would be better to compare Jaynes movie to “Friday the 13th” than the work of Pierce.

It seems fitting that Brian T. Jaynes would opt to debut the trailer for his upcoming “Boggy Creek” movie just a little over a week after the passing of legendary cult film maker Charles B. Pierce. As most of you know, Pierce made the original “Legend of Boggy Creek” film with $160,000 he borrowed from a friend. That film would go on to become a drive-in hit and fan favorite.

Daniel Perez holds a 14.5-inch cast of an alleged Bigfoot track from Bluff Creek in Northern California. May 31, 2008, is Daniel Perez’s 45th birthday. February 5, 2008, is Super Tuesday. What is being called a historical, nearly national, primary for American politics will be a great day for pinback button collectors. But where are the humorous cryptid collectibles? I have conducted almost 50 years of investigating cryptozoology throughout America and the world, and devoted a sizable amount of time […]
