…an invention created by students and researchers in the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab in Cambridge in 2012, called “Eulerian Video Magnification.”
EVM is essentially a software that allows users to break down videos to reveal things in them that are invisible to the naked eye. Bob Gimlin, Thomas Steenburg, Barry Blount, Chris Murphy and I thought the exhibit was put together in the most interesting manner ever. It’s well worth seeing.

Dyer, for his part, said that he has “turned over a new leaf” and that there is “no point in lying about anything, right now.”
When I asked him if he really believes in Bigfoot, he didn’t miss a beat. While Hank may be a fake, Dyer claims to have a video that shows the actual killing of a real creature outside of San Antonio.
“I do believe in Bigfoot,” he said, “because I believe that what I killed was a Bigfoot.”

You might still hear about a UFO sighting or two in Maine – or maybe a report of a large beast in the woods. But it’s much less common to hear modern accounts of the sea serpent. There was a time, though, when such sightings were much more common, and reported by upstanding citizens. In the latest installment of our occasional series, Maine’s Hidden History, Maine Things Considered host Tom Porter turns once again to Portland historian Herb Adams.
