Expedition Bigfoot: The Sasquatch Museum opened in early February in Cherry Log — located about halfway between Ellijay and Blue Ridge on Highway 515. The 4,000-square foot museum is filled with what owners David and Malinda Bakara call the largest collection of Bigfoot artifacts in any museum anywhere, much of which were gathered by fellow Bigfoot fans and researchers. That collection includes casts of alleged Bigfoot hand and foot prints, newspaper articles documenting reported sightings, a gallery of sketches, and even a life-sized replica of Bigfoot himself.

A new video posted to YouTube this week claimed to show a Bigfoot in Payson Canyon. According to the video’s description, the footage was captured in the spring of 2015, and has only recently seen the light of day because the man who filmed it was “nervous or embarrassed to show anyone who might think he was crazy.”

Maine has a very long history of Sasquatch sightings in the state, from mountain tops to people’s property near towns. Shadows in the Woods chronicles Maine’s rich Bigfoot record in Native American traditions and beliefs, Wild Man sightings, modern Bigfoot encounters, literary appearances of hairy man-like creatures, and strange somethings in tales and stories suggestive of Bigfoot.

Tonight I speak to Daniel S. Green, author of Shadows in the Woods: A Chronicle of Bigfoot in Maine. Maine has a very long history of Sasquatch sightings in the state, from mountain tops to people’s property near towns. Some of the first reports of Bigfoot in Maine was in the 1800’s, near the Mt. Katahdin area. The Indians from that region would call the Sasquatch there, “Pomoola” or “Injun Devil.”
