Dr. Karl Shuker, in a new post at his Shuker Nature blog, says: “Cryptozoologically-speaking, Scotland is world-famous for the Loch Ness monster, and also for its plethora of pantheresque and cougar-like mystery cats that allegedly roam its lonely moors and shadowy glens. However, these are not the only cryptids on record from this northernmost country […]

The creature at the heart of the saga became known as the “Beast of Bolam” (after the location: Bolam Lake Country Park, which is located in Northumberland, England), and briefly provoked massive interest at a local level and within British Fortean and cryptozoological circles.

For decades, people all across the United Kingdom – from the cold northern realms of Scotland to the southern-most borders of England – have reported sightings of large cats, very often the size of mountain-lions and equally often completely black in color.

“In cryptozoology, it is always a delight to unearth accounts of hitherto-obscure mystery beasts from the archives of antiquity,” says Dr. Karl Shuker, in a new post, continuing: “Lately two such creatures, hailing from widely disparate geographical regions but of oddly similar appearance, have occupied my attention simultaneously, though with very different outcomes, as will […]

Nick Redfern has produced another excellent title that we will all wish to add to our Redfern Library of Monsters, Weird Creatures, and Perplexing Paths of the Paranormal. In Monster Diary Redfern takes to the road to search out ‘strange and sinister creatures,’ and the literary style of diary entries serves the subject matter very well.Brad Steiger

A couple of people have asked me what kinds of cases and theories for the British Bigfoot appear in my new book, Wildman!, which is the first full-length study of the phenomenon of hairy man-beasts in the UK. Well, the easiest way to answer that question of cases and theories, is to share with you the “Contents” list…
